Based in Cohasset, well known across the island of Nantucket, and working internationally, Brian predominantly creates his fine art photographs from the water. Whether he’s crewing aboard a sailboat in a renowned classic yacht regatta, sailing offshore from New England to the Caribbean, or paddling through tidal creeks, Brian seeks to use light to showcase the often unsung details of the nautical world.
With a lifetime of sailing experience and more than 10,000 miles of offshore sailing under his belt, Brian's work showcases the allure of the marine world. He combines his profound understanding of sailing with a keen artistic eye, creating masterful images with lasting impact. Brian’s ultimate goal through fine art photography is to encourage others to engage with the beauty and complexity of the sea.
In addition to his fine art works, Brian brings an artist's eye and years of editorial experience to commercial photography for wedding, portraiture, and brand clients.
Brian received the Artists Association of Nantucket's Photography Award in 2020.
The Photos
Brian's seascapes elegantly capture the beautiful—and sometimes tempestuous—interplay between the sea and the elements. His sailing photographs offer a portal into the innumerable fleeting moments experienced by a sailor. Although the subtleties of sailing are typically reserved for sailors themselves, Brian invites his viewers to experience the raw emotions surrounding the sport that are often difficult to articulate. Whether it’s the thrill of a regatta start, the adrenaline rush of rounding a windward mark, or the paradoxical allure of calm & windless days, he asks his viewers to immerse themselves directly into the experience.
The Collectors
Brian's work is included in a number of private and corporate collections worldwide. Brian takes immense care in preparing his photos to the highest standards, and only uses the finest printing methods available.
Recent notable installations include a 20'x10' print for Nantucket Cottage Hospital (pictured), a large-scale installation for Montefiore Medical Center's Fine Art Program, a multi-paneled project for the Nantucket Community Music Center, as well as custom one-of-one commissions for private homes and offices around the globe.
